The University of Ottawa requires a source of laser light capable of delivering femtosecond-duration pulses with a wavelength tuneable from 1.38um to 4.8um at a repetition rate of 80MHz.
General Description:
The source of laser light will deliver bright, tuneable, femtosecond-duration pulses from 1.38um to 4.8um in wavelength, in addition to any other laser sources that are required to pump the system. The short pulse duration of the laser source will allow nonlinear optical processes to be accessed in quantum source development (entangled photons and heralded single photons, for example).
The Appendix A specifications contained in this RFP are the mandatory minimum requirements for the Infrared Femtosecond Pulsed Wavelength Tuneable Laser.
Mandatory minimum requirements
1. MS detector
1.1 The output wavelength must be able to be tuned between the range of 1380 to 1950 nm and 2200 to 4800 nm
1.2 The pulsed output must have a duration < 300 fs
1.3 Must have a pulse repetition rate of approximately 80MHz
1.4 Must have an output beam in the TEM00 mode and of quality of M2<1.2
1.5 The time-bandwidth product of the output pulses must be < 0.5
1.6 Must deliver > 1.0 W at output wavelength 1500 nm and >0.5 W at 2500 nm
1.7 All output beams from the system must have power stability of <±3% RMS over 2 hours, after a 1 hour warm-up period in a laboratory with temperature stability
1.8 Must include optics to separate the signal (1380 nm to 1950 nm) beam from the idler beam (2200 nm to 4800 nm)
2. Other Requirements
2.1 Must have fully automatic wavelength tuning.
2.2 Installation and training must be included.
2.3 Must include a minimum of one (1) year warranty on parts and labor.
2.4 Any devices and parts needed to control the system operation and tuning must be included.
3. Utilities
3.1 All components in the entire system must operate on standard Canadian power distribution / electrical supply (120V, 20A or 208V, 20A).
3.2 All electrical components must have CSA (Canadian Standards Association) certification or accepted equivalent as per Electrical Safety Authority Recognized Certification Marks at the following link: https://www.esasafe.com/electricalproducts/marks. Otherwise, the cost of inspection and certification has to be covered by the vendor.
