DESCRIPTION OF PROCUREMENT
The University is conducting an RFP for Mass Spectrometry Platform for Neurodegenerative Disease
The Department of Tanz Centre for Research in Neurodegenerative Diseases intends to purchase one (1) Mass Spectrometry Platform for Neurodegenerative Disease.
Mass spectrometry has become one of the pillars of discovery at the Tanz CRND used for the initial study of gene products of unknown function, building on a partner-in-crime logic that often allows valuable inferences to be drawn regarding the function of a protein. Moreover, in search of disease mechanism, we plan to use the expanded capabilities of the next-generation mass spectrometry system to connect separate branches of protein biology through the identification of missing links.
The next frontier in neurodegenerative disease protein mass spectrometry are precision analyses undertaken at high throughput—when the comprehensive analysis of proteomes of a small number of cells can be paired with the statistical power derived from the analysis of hundreds of samples in a relatively short time, it will not merely precipitate an incremental advance but will open the door to tackling qualitatively different questions. We are interested in purchasing a new mass spectrometry system that can deliver sensitive analyses of large number of samples at high speed.
The procurement is anticipated to involve negotiation. An electronic auction is not anticipated.
