As part of an Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada (ISED)-funded initiative, Tourism HR Canada is developing a Pan-Canadian Market and Export Readiness curriculum to help tourism businesses develop products and services for new and emergent visitor markets. For the purposes of this Request for Proposal (RFP), we are seeking proposals for a Technical Consultant who will identify and conceptualize the technical requirements for the development of an online Digital Portal.
The Digital Portal is projected to be a centralized information hub that will provide the tourism sector with a wide array of marketing tools, such as self-assessments, tailored training paths, educational resources, links for targeted markets, and downloadable tools for trainers and educators.
The Portal is envisioned to have the following functions: Provide end-users, educators/trainers, and key tourism stakeholders with a common place to learn, collaborate, and access various training opportunities related to marketing Aid users with an easy-to-use self-assessment tool that will determine a personalized training path to help users expand their customer base and grow their business Collect and digitalize available and new training materials into one accessible online space that is mobile/tablet compatible Encourage collaboration among key players by identifying possible training opportunities
Development is scheduled from mid-February to October 2020. Prior to this development phase, it is crucial for Tourism HR Canada and the Technical Consultant to identify all technical requirements, including the ortal’s structure and administrative roles, to determine the estimated time frame and budget to support the Portal, and to ensure stakeholders’ buy-in. This process will allow Tourism HR Canada to plan ahead and to draft a concise RFP that will outline the skills and experience needed for the developer, the system requirements, including design and licensing, the necessary future-proofing for maintenance and sustainability, and continuous technical/administrative support.
