19-RFT-0084-00B - Micro-lab Ventilation Improvement Project Brockville Campus

It is important that St. Lawrence College provide a healthy, safe and welcoming environment for students, staff and visitors to the College. It has been identified that improvements are needed in the Micro-lab which is used for both Microbiology and Chemistry labs. It is important that this replacement be carried out over the summer break to avoid disruptions to returning classes in September 2018.
 
The lab space will be made available to the contractor once work is to commence and every effort is to be taken to coordinate work to maintain continual construction to completion and not leave the space empty for any extended period. It will therefore be important to obtain shop drawings, approvals and equipment as early as possible once the contract is awarded to the successful proponent.     
 
The intent of the project is to have a qualified contractor modify the ventilation and air handling systems as outlined in the specifications and drawings, including but not limited to:

• Supply new and install a new roof top air handling unit and associated roof support and curbs
• Modify existing exhaust fans and connect existing lab hood to ventilation systems
• Supply and install all equipment, materials and labour to connect equipment to existing BAS and modify as outlined in the drawings and specifications. (Johnson Controls is the College’s building automation system contractor and this firm must be contracted for any modifications to the system)
• Modifications to duct work with the ceiling space as required
• All associated electrical work and new gas lines as required
• Tie in existing roof system to new unit/curb and make watertight (by contractor)
