Description

The Township of South Glengarry is inviting consulting firms to submit a proposal to provide qualified and professional consulting services to create a Peanut Line Options Analysis. The Peanut Line is a 31 kilometre rail bed located in the Township of South Glengarry that runs from Boundary Road to the Quebec Border. This line was an active railway in the 1980’s and the tracks were removed in the early to mid 1990’s. It is typically a 100 ft. rail bed width and can increase up to 200ft at former station locations. The trail includes steel and concrete culverts as well as 3 main bridge structures. The Township purchased the Peanut Line in 2009 with the intent to create a multi purpose trail. The Peanut Line is currently utilized as a multi purpose trail that also includes motorized recreation vehicles. The majority of the trail surfacing is currently granular and/or soil.
