Simon Fraser University (SFU) is a comprehensive research university in British Columbia that supports approximately 35,000 students and 6,500 faculty and staff across its 3 campuses (Burnaby, Vancouver, and Surrey). Its vision for a healthy campus community is where the people, programs, practices, policies, and spaces foster well-being and provide a supportive environment for students to thrive and succeed on campus and beyond.
SFU Lifelong Learning (LL) delivers programs and services that extend the reach of SFU and attract populations not served by more formal academic pathways. We offer non-credit programming online and in person to approximately 6,000 students each year. Our offerings, which currently generate $8 million per year in revenue, include:
• Continuing Studies: non-credit courses and programs for professional and personal development. SFU Continuing Studies offers more than 300 courses and almost two dozen certificate programs.
• English Language and Culture Program: for international language learners, offered primarily in person and select programs online
• Registration service and support for other non-credit SFU offerings
• Lectures and events for the community
• Special audit services for SFU undergraduate courses
In 2022/2023, LL processed close to 12,000 registrations from students around the world. Students were supported by 233 instructors and 65 staff members. LL is seeking a new Non-Credit Student Information and Registration System (SIS) to process registrations and applications, maintain student academic and financial records, generate official university documents, and provide a positive student experience with SFU.
