ER02-2023 - Partnering to Provide Child Care and Keep Parents Working

Alberta SCSS is seeking Proposals for the delivery of innovative Projects to ensure that marginally employed and/or underemployed Albertans will have access to supportive, quality child care options that will contribute to the overall success of their employment.

The objective of this Project is to create an innovative model that removes child care obstacles for parents and/or guardians, provides social services for sustainable employment futures, and ultimately, begins to shift the paradigm to create a workforce that is inclusive to working families. This Project will be a partnership and collaboration between parents and/or guardians, Child Care Operators, employers or businesses, specialized wrap-around or secondary supports and the GoA.

Child care is not a family issue, it is a business issue. It affects how we work, when we work, and for many, why we work. Moving forward, employer-provided child care could also influence where we work.

It is anticipated that this Project will:
• Provide assistance to both the supply and demand side (employer and employee)
• Reduce employee turnover and increase job satisfaction;
• Increase employer awareness of government programs and Services;
• Assist with economic development and sustainability;
• Reduce backsliding into financial support programs;
• Increase financial and family stability for participants;
• Reduce the pressure for the working family so they may sustain and improve their employment situation;
