ARMA202210-BOD - Board of Directors Recruitment Agency

The ARMA Board of Directors and Governance and Accountability Committee have completed a fulsome review of existing 30-year-old organizational governance bylaws and associated terms of reference. It was upon the completion of this governance review, that the decision was made to move to a skills-based Board with an eligibility requirement. Directors wanted to ensure ARMA could be both nimble and non-conflicting should additional recycling programs be added to the existing four recycling programs managed by the organization - Paint, Used Oil Materials, Tires and Electronics.

ARMA is seeking, through the process of Request for Proposal (RFP), feedback from Recruitment Agencies with respect to recruitment of Board of Directors.

Over the course of the next 1-2 years, ARMA will need to strategically transition from a historically operational, member appointed Board of Directors to a strategic, skills-based Board of Directors. We anticipate that the next 1-2 years will require the recruitment of approximately 7 new board members and additional recruitments will be required as terms expire thereafter. The first 1-2 years will be transition years to ensure Board knowledge transfer and continuity.

The recruitment agency will present candidates to ARMA who will liaise with the Nominating Committee of the Board of Directors to interview and select the successful candidates.
