SDS RiskAssist – Multi-Year Agreement

Advance Contract Award Notice (ACAN):

An ACAN is a public notice indicating to the supplier community that a department or agency intends to award a contract for goods, services or construction to a pre-identified supplier, thereby allowing other suppliers to signal their interest in bidding by submitting a statement of capabilities. If no supplier submits a statement of capabilities that meets the requirements set out in the ACAN on or before the closing date stated in the ACAN, the contracting officer may then proceed with the award to the pre-identified supplier.

Definition of the requirement:

A cloud-based Safety Data Sheet (SDS) Management solution that digitizes safety data sheets, extracts crucial chemical hazard information and provides a summary of the hazards. This solution must also be able to receive SDS files through an Application Programming Interface (API) so that it fits seamlessly with NRC applications.

The National Research Council of Canada has a requirement for the supply of a software. The software must be able to do the following:

Safely and securely interact with NRC Applications

Automate the reception of SDSs from NRC Applications and return a summary of the information within 48 hours

Read and analyze English, French and bilingual SDSs

Provide a summary of the hazards in both English and French

Extract the following information from the SDS:

CAS Number of the chemical

CAS Number of the ingredients if the material is a mixture

Supplier Name

WHMIS Categories and Pictograms

UN Number

Hazard and Precautionary Statements (or related H- and P-codes)

Exposure limits

Signal Word

Creation/Revision Date of SDS
