The Municipality of West Grey is comprised of the former townships of Bentinck, Glenelg and Normanby. It is one of nine municipalities within the County of Grey spanning across the Rocky Saugeen River, the River Styx, the Beatty Saugeen River and the South Saugeen River. Durham and Neustadt are the Municipality’s primary settlement areas, both of which are fully serviced. Unlike many rural municipalities, West Grey also maintains its own Fire and Police forces. West Grey is the largest lower-tier municipality in terms of land area in Grey County.

To ensure all pillars of the municipality’s strategic plan are upheld, municipal council has deemed it to be in their best interest to conduct a full review of projected growth needs. The municipality is engaging the services of a consultant to analyze and elaborate further on anticipated growth to ensure the full needs and services of the municipality are reviewed in a ‘West Grey’ approach. The growth management strategy will address population projections, anticipate development needs and strategies to address projections related to services that the municipality will require going forward.

The successful consultant will be required to work in conjunction with appointed staff and subsequently to Council regarding the projections, needs analysis, and a staged approach to address current standards, while addressing deficiencies and provide recommendations allowing Council and staff to move forward with a long term approach. Primary contact of the consultant will be at the discretion of the CAO and senior management with anticipated updates to Council at significant milestones.
