Notice of Intent to Direct Award
Mechanical Contracting Service to Bella Coola General Hospital Boiler Replacement Project
Document Number D497-00BCGH BOILER REPL
Vancouver Coastal Health Authority (VCH) intends to enter into an agreement with Trainor Mechanical for the Bella Coola General Hospital Boiler Replacement Project (Project). The maximum value of this contract will not exceed $350,000.00 plus tax. VCH has chosen not to complete a public tendering process but negotiate the contemplated contract for the following reasons:
## Due to a catastrophic failure of one of the existing boilers in winter 2020, the need to
replace the existing boilers has been accelerated as there is currently no redundancy in the system. The existing boilers are over 20 years old, and replacement parts are no longer available, thus making it obsolete. The boilers are critical to clinical and facility operations, patient comfort and care. These current circumstances require the boilers to be replaced prior to the heating season, which starts in September;
## Trainor Mechanical has extensive knowledge and experience working at the Bella Coola General Hospital and are familiar with the replacement boiler design and specifications;
## Trainor Mechanical possesses local sub-trade relationships and can secure worker accommodations to suite the Project's timeline which is based on a July 19th start;
## Trainor Mechanical has committed to mobilize the Project upon approval;
## Trainor Mechanical is registered and complies with all applicable WorkSafe BC Regulations;
