Description

The Consortium is looking for proponents to provide school transportation services for thirty-six (36) routes that have been grouped into seven (7) route bundles. The route bundles have been grouped by geographical area. There is no cap on the number of route bundles any one proponent may obtain.

The Consortium’s coverage area is East of Thunder Bay starting in Dorion Ontario and includes communities in the Greenstone area as well as up Highway 17 all the way to Manitouwadge. There are stops in the communities as well as several places on the highways and also on back roads. The Consortium maintains twenty-five (25) elementary schools as well as seven (7) secondary schools comprising of approximately one thousand six hundred (1,600) bused students. We also provide busing for some of the First Nation communities in the area. The Consortium operates with an annual budget of approximately $2.8 million dollars. Several of the routes have more than one (1) run on them as well the students on board represent four (4) different school boards. Many of the schools in these communities share the same buildings making the drop off and pick up convenient.

The office for East of Thunder Bay Transportaton Consortium is located at 13 Hemlo Drive in Marathon, Ontario.

The Consortium was formed in 2009 and is made up of the following four (4) school boards:

Superior Greenstone District School Board
Superior North Catholic District School Board
Conseil Scolaire de District du Grand Nord de l’Ontario
Conseil Scolaire de District Catholique Aurores Boreales
