Description

Complete installation of fish lab equipment, including mechanical and electrical alterations, all as identified in the drawings and specifications prepared by Canadian Aquaculture Systems Inc. and Mat 4Site.
All work to take place during regular working hours. All disruptive work (noise/vibration, etc) to take place after hours or on weekends. Co-ordinate after hours or weekend work with York University representative. Please note that fish lab equipment will be delivered in three shipments, most likely in this sequence: 1) aquaria and aquaria stands, 2) tanks and 3) filtration equipment.
Disposal bin location to be provided by York University representative.
The Selected Bidder will be required to enter into an agreement with York University. The form of agreement will be York University’s Standard Short Form of Contract. Bidders are required to familiarize themselves with the form of the Contract. All General Conditions and Articles of the CCDC 2, 2008 Contract Form are included and form part of these Specifications, Instructions to Bidders and Bid Form(s).
York University is in the process of renovating two aquatic laboratories located in Rooms 022 and 038 of the Farquharson Building. A design has been completed and the University has purchased the specified tanks, equipment and process controls for the facility.
Renovation of the aquatic research facilities in the Farquharson Life Sciences Building will enhance the equipment and infrastructure to meet the needs of the research community and to reduce operational costs. The latter are related primarily to water consumption, water treatment, and system maintenance.
Based on input from faculty and staff with respect to their requirements, and considering the available space, the renovated design for the Farquharson aquatic labs includes nine (9) distinct recirculating aquaculture systems (RAS) located in two (2) separate rooms – Room 022 and Room 038. All units are to operate with freshwater only. The layout of the facilities is presented in Figures 1 and 2. Additional details are provided in the accompanying drawing set.
