Description

This Request for Proposals (the “RFP”) is an invitation by Wilfrid Laurier University (WLU) to prospective proponents to submit proposals for Design-Build Services John Aird Building Window & Door Replacement as further described in Section A of the RFP Particulars (Appendix D) (the “Deliverables”). The intent is to retain a window contractor /consultant team, to propose a design build package, for replacement of all exterior windows and doors on the John Aird Building at Wilfrid Laurier University, 75 University Avenue , Waterloo Ontario.. The intention is to maintain interior finishes wherever possible ie. Interior marble sills, wood trim, replace door or window as applicable, and make good all finishes. The selected proponent will act as the General Contractor and Constructor, responsible for all trades, builders risk insurance and all necessary items for removals of existing windows/doors and installation of new.

The John Aird Building building hosts many activities associated with the Laurier Faculty of Music, and the building will be occupied throughout the period of construction. The selected proponent will be required to produce a detailed project schedule in consultation with the University, and to accommodate on-going activities within the building during the construction period.

There are two time periods available for the on-site installations:

April 30 to June 15, 2018
August 20 to September 30, 2018.

Proponents are instructed to plan the site activities within these time periods, and to submit a preliminary schedule with their proposal. Completion of the replacements by mid-September is desirable. Extended work hours and weekend work will be permitted, to the extent allowed by the City of Waterloo noise by-law. Estimate project value is $800,000.

Event Note

A mandatory pre-bid site visit will be held on March 12, 2018 beginning promptly at 1 pm. Proponents are instructed to assemble at the John Aird parking lot (corner of Hazel and University Ave) for 1 pm to be escorted as a group into the building.

All Proposals and accompanying documents must be uploaded electronically at https://laurier.bonfirehub.com. Hardcopies of Proposals will NOT be accepted. (See also Section 3.2 (Submission) of this RFP).
Late Proposals will be disqualified, provided that the University may elect to accept a late Proposal in its discretion (if, for example, no other compliant Proposal is received, or, for example, if the Proponent selected fails to execute the Contract as required and no other compliant Proposal is received).
All references to time refer to Waterloo time, unless otherwise specified. Any issue or determination required as to calculation or application of time shall be resolved as applied and interpreted by the University acting reasonably.
