UNIVERSITY OF WATERLOO - NOTICE OF INTENT TO AWARD A SINGLE SOURCE CONTRACT: 19-004
Zeiss CT scanner sample autoloader (OEM accessory)
The University of Waterloo (UW) intends to award a single source contract to Carl Zeiss Canada Ltd., of Toronto, Ontario, Canada, for the purchase and installation of: the ZEISS XRM Autoloader accessory for an existing CT scanner in our Multi-Scale Additive Manufacturing Laboratory, at the University of Waterloo, enabling queues of imaging jobs, receive automatic notification of job completion, and maximizing XRM throughput.
This is an Advanced Notice indicating to the supplier community that UW intends to award a contract for this equipment to a pre-identified supplier. If no other supplier submits, on or before the closing date of this notice, a statement of specifications that satisfies the stated requirements set out in this Notice, the competitive requirements of the University are considered to have been met. Following notification to any suppliers not successful in demonstrating that their statement of specifications meets the requirements set out in this Notice, the contract may then be awarded to the pre-identified supplier.
If other potential suppliers submit statements of specifications during the fifteen calendar day posting period, and meet the requirements set out in this Notice, UW will proceed to a Request for Proposal process, in order to award the contract.
SPECIFICATIONS
The required sample autoloader will be purchased and installed on an existing CT scanner, to enable batched data collection and programmed data acquisitions;
- Compatible with Zeiss Xradia Versa 520 Xray machine
- Set up queues of up to 14 samples for imaging jobs, receive automatic notification of job completion
- Sample weight up to 1.5 Kg
- Completely integrated with Scout-and-Scan interface for easy set-up
The budget for this purchase is approximately $275,000 CAD, plus HST.
SOLE SOURCE JUSTIFICATION
The existing CT scanner can only be outfitted with Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) accessories;
Since Zeiss is the manufacturer of the CT scanner, the sample autoloader must be supplied and installed by them to maintain integrity of warranty and service contract(s).
Process
Suppliers who can provide OEM or equivalent equipment with proven functionality that will maintain the integrity of the existing warranty/service contract on Zeiss equipment, within budget, and/or show how their suggested alternate approach would be of benefit to the University of Waterloo, may submit a statement of specifications, in writing, to the contact person identified in this Notice on or before the closing date of this Notice. The statement of specifications must unequivocally demonstrate how the supplier meets these advertised requirements within budget.
