1.2 Statement of Requirements
The open access infrastructure at the University of Ottawa will develop digital solutions to acquire sensory data collected from a connected and autonomous vehicle test-bed in the laboratory and a network of connected vehicles moving around the city, and introduce artificial intelligence (AI) methodologies to analyze the sensory data in real time on a back-end compute cluster. The equipment in this infrastructure will create a unique open access facility that includes:
1. Autonomous Vehicle Research Studio,
2. Connected Vehicle Sensors,
3. Back-end for real time data analytics.
This RFP is to acquire the third module of this infrastructure, i..e, Back-End for real time data analytics.
General Description:
The requested equipment will enable the researchers in this facility to introduce transformational techniques in AI, sensor fusion and data processing algorithms in a compute back-end cluster that will process sensor and communication data acquired from the front-end consisting of autonomous bots, self-driving cars, and autonomous drones reporting real time sensory data. The computing back-end that is intended to be purchased will consist of:
1) Rackmount Server with Docker Deep Learning Software Stack, which will be hosted in Marion research datacentre at uOttawa, and will be connected from the workstations and the ground control center at the Smart Connected Vehicles Innovation Centre at 535 Legget Drive via remote ssh connections.;
2) Five (5) workstations which will form an intermediate system that will perform data fusion, temporary storage, and pre-processing on these workstations,
3) For each workstation and the main server 2 monitors (i.e., 12 in total) are requested.
The rackmount Server with Docker Deep Learning Software Stack will be hosted in Marion research datacentre at uOttawa whereas the (5) workstations and the monitors will be hosted in the Smart Connected Vehicles Innovation Centre at 535 Legget Drive, Kanata.
The specifications found in APPENDIX A - PART 1: TECHNICAL SPECIFICATION COMPLIANCE contained in this RFP are the mandatory minimum requirements for the Laboratory Back-End Infrastructure for Real Time Data Analytics.
