McMaster University invites qualified bidders to submit responses for the publishing the McMaster Textbook of Medicine in accordance with the terms of this Request for Proposals.
General overview: The McMaster Textbook of Internal Medicine (MTIM) is a long-standing project associated with the Department of Medicine and the Faculty of Health Sciences (FHS). The first print edition was launched in 2019, to mark the 50th anniversary of McMaster University’s Michael G. DeGroote School.
The McMaster Textbook of Internal Medicine (MTIM; www.mcmastertextbook.com) — a multimedia educational resource — is an ongoing project requiring annual revisions by authors. The MTIM will also be published in various languages.
The web-based version was first made available at the end of 2016. A South Asian adaptation of MTIM (South Asian Edition, MTIM-SAE) was launched in 2022. To develop this edition, a network of connections was established to collaborate with, at this stage, over 200 chapter editors from India, Pakistan, and other countries from the region. The South Asian edition involves ongoing production of chapters, videos, lectures, and interviews, all of which are adapted to local patterns of practice. The next edition of MTIM-SAE will be published in the summer of 2023. The first derivative product - MTIM- SAE cardiology is in the production stages in May 2023.
The purpose is to provide a clinical resource to medicine students and other health professionals with evidence-based peer-reviewed knowledge of internal medicine diseases. The textbook is updated as required as new information is acquired and treatment options change. The textbook is available in hard copy, via the internet and mobile devices via an app.
