MPAC has identified through best practice, market research, and adopting The National Standard of Canada for Psychological Health and Safety in the Workplace (the Standard), through the Mental Health Commission of Canada, that employers have a greater responsibility to acknowledge, recognize and celebrate employee achievements in the workplace to support employee self-esteem and wellbeing. Our Employee Rewards and Recognition Program will recognize the importance of employee contributions and recognize that a supportive work environment is required to attract and retain high performing employees. MPAC‘s Rewards and Recognition Program will help promote a culture of acknowledgement and appreciation. It will include comprehensive resources for Managers emphasizing the significance recognition has on employees and the value it brings to the organization. It will include a rewards component, but more importantly will provide managers with the tools and resources to incorporate informal recognition into their daily work.
MPAC’s program will:
-Motivate and reward a high performance, values-based culture that makes MPAC an employer of choice
-Build employee engagement
-Provide timely recognition for individual and team achievement
-Provide rewards that are valued and meaningful to staff
-Provide rewards that are fiscally prudent in the eyes of our municipal funders
-Be fair and transparent
-Be simple to understand and apply
-Be clearly communicated to staff
-Be visible and consistently applied across the organization
-Comply with all applicable, corporate policies, laws, statutes and acts in the province of Ontario
-Achieve program goals in a cost effective manner
-Include a reward component for outstanding performance that aligns with corporate strategic objectives
Currently, MPAC’s Employee Programs department manages three areas of Employee Rewards and Recognition: performance, milestone (retirement and years of service), and general.
MPAC’s RFP-0066-2017 is subject to Chapter 5 of the Canadian Free Trade Agreement.
