Description

The replacement of the overflow dam consists of Concrete repairs to the existing concrete dam core followed by backfill entombment of the entire concrete dam core with riprap. Bedrock excavation for a new riparian channel and construction of a new concrete stoplog control structure located at the left abutment of the existing structure. Construction of abutment and wing walls at the new concrete control structure. Construction of a new concrete core wall extension located on the right-side of the existing structure. Post-tensioned anchoring of the new concrete control structure. Fabrication and installation of a new structural steel operation platform and hoist system. Fabrication and installation of wooden stoplogs and a permanent concrete bulkhead. Demolition is required for select existing structures.

PHASE 1

As a minimum, all concrete repairs to the existing concrete dam that shall remain permanently and the temporary right side cofferdam specified under “Cofferdam Construction” and “Details of Work”, items 1-4, must be completed. At the end of Phase 1 the structure must be able to maintain the specified head water level.

Phase 1 works as shown on the Plans and described in this Special Provision shall include, but are not necessarily limited to the Work as follows:

Concrete Repair - Partial Depth (Type 1)
Crack Injection Repairs (Type 2 - Preparation)
Crack Injection Repairs (Type 2 - Injection)
Concrete Repair - Partial Depth (Type 4)
Concrete Repair - Partial Depth (Type 5)
Cofferdam Construction (to 20% payment level of completion)

If due to unforeseen circumstances, the Phase 1 Completion Date is not met, the Contractor must take actions to ready the partially completed work for inundation, such that upstream seasonal water levels are maintained. Payment for these works will be paid under “Contingency”.

PHASE 2

Construction on the remaining in-the-wet scope of work shall recommence after the fish spawning window (after July 15) has completed. The Work shall include all items and all incidental items of work necessary to make the rehabilitated dam and new stop log control structure fully operational, and all temporary cofferdams required must be removed

Demolition and Removal of Existing Structures
Solid Rock Excavation
Supply and Place Rock Riprap (Class 700)
Supply and Place Concrete
Supply and Fabricate Miscellaneous Metal
Placing Miscellaneous Metal
Supply and Installation of Post-Tensioned Rock Anchors
Wooden Stoplogs
Permanent Concrete Bulkhead
Fencing

PHASE 3

Phase 3 works as shown on the Plans and described in this Special Provision shall include all remaining Contract Work including site restoration and revegetation (except revegetation maintenance)
