Full Title: Replacement of Overhead Bridge Cranes for Winnipeg Fleet Maintenance Buildings - 195 and 215 Tecumseh Street
D2. SCOPE OF WORK
D2.1 The Work to be done under the Contract shall consist of replacement of overhead bridge
cranes for City of Winnipeg Fleet Management maintenance buildings located at 195 Tecumseh Street
and 215 Tecumseh Street.
D2.2 The funds available for this Contract are $290,000.00 (MRST included, GST extra).
D2.3 The major components of the Work are as follows:
(a) The General Contractor shall survey the entire length of the crane runways to ensure proper
clearances may be maintained for all motions and operations.
(b) Clearance shall be maintained between the cranes and the building, as well as cranes
operating at different elevations, under normal operating conditions.
(c) Clearance shall be maintained between the cranes and the building, as well as parallel
running cranes, under all normal operation conditions.
(d) The overhead cranes shall include all hoists, bridge beams, end trucks and controls as
specified herein.
(e) The new cranes shall be installed on existing crane runway beams.
(f) Crane components shall be prime painted then receive two coats of paint as specified.
(g) The cranes shall be assembled in the manufacturer’s plant according to manufacturer’s
standards.
(h) After the new cranes are installed on the runway and before being placed in service, they
shall be fully inspected and tested to ensure compliance with the applicable of the specifications
and applicable standards.
(i) The crane supplier shall include all assembly, field wiring, installation and starting up
procedures.
(j) The cranes shall be provided with all necessary lubrication fittings at all bearings,
gears, etc.in accordance with crane manufacturer’s recommendations.
(k) Mechanical design includes bridge drives, gearing, bearings, bridge brakes, under running
bridge wheels, bumpers and stops.
(l) The bridge drives shall consist of motor or motors driving through a suitable reduction
unit or units to the wheels located at each end of the bridges.
(m) All electrical equipment, conduit and wiring shall be furnished as specified herein.
(n) All bridges and trolleys shall be furnished with reversing control systems incorporating
plugging protection.
(o) Electrical equipment includes motors, brakes, controllers, resistors, protection/safety
features. floor mounted pendant pushbutton stations, limit switches, runway conductor system,
remote controls, wireless data exchange, collision avoidance system and LED lighting, as specified
herein.
(p) General Contractor to provide project closeout submittals of two (2) copies of the Operation
and Maintenance manuals, as-built construction drawings describing the installation,
electrification operation and maintenance of the cranes including product data spare parts
information.
(q) Final clean-up of all areas affected by the demolition and construction work.
D2.4 The following shall apply to the Services:
