The Work to be done under the Contract shall consist of structural steel repairs to the spans of the Arlington Street Overpass inside and outside the CPR yard.
D2.2 The major components of the Work are as follows:
(a) Type 1 Repair – Floor Beam Bottom Flange Repair, which includes the provision of temporary shoring to the framing on each side of the floor beams to enable the repairs to be completed while the bridge is still open, removal of rivets and existing severely corroded bottom flange angles, installation of new rolled structural steel bottom flange angles, and removal of the temporary shoring.
(b) Type 2 Repair - Timber Nailers Replacement, which includes removal and disposal of existing eroded timber nailers, supply and installation of new steel channel beams.
(c) Type 3 Repair – Exterior Girder Web Repair, which includes supply and installation of new steel plates bolted to the girder web.
(d) Type 4 Repair - Diaphragm Beam Repair, which includes supply and installation of new steel diaphragms and support brackets adjacent to existing severely corroded structural steel members, and shimming as needed.
(e) Type 5 Repair – Truss Bottom Chord Strengthening, which includes supply and installation of two (2) new additional steel plates (top and bottom) at each truss bottom chord repair location with extensive rust packing between the web and flange angles.
(f) Type 6 Repair – Sidewalk Corrugated Steel Deck Repair, which includes supply and installation of new steel decking under the sidewalk’ corroded sections, supporting angles, and support brackets.
(g) Type 7 Repair – Pier Steel Column Repair, which includes heating and straightening of the lower 1/3 of the pier column, conducting a non-destructive testing (magnetic particle test) to confirm the steel condition, and supply and installation of strengthening steel plates to the column flanges as needed.
