Infrastructure Ontario manages one of the largest real estate portfolios in Canada, consisting of 4,493
buildings and structures, encompassing 42.7 million square feet of space, both owned
and leased. The portfolio includes a wide variety of properties ranging from detention
centres to office space, laboratories to heritage buildings. IO also manages 193,000
acres of land, including landbanks and hydro corridor land, forming a significant part of
the Ontario government’s portfolio.
IO’s Land Use Planning group provides planning and design services and advice to
other groups within IO and to broader government. The group develops strategies and
products internally, and procures and manages external consultants when warranted
by scope complexity and capacity constraints.
