Following changes to the Electricity Act, the IESO’s formation in January 2015 integrated two legacy organizations: the Independent Electricity System Operator and the Ontario Power Authority. Mandates from both legacy organizations were merged in order to drive efficiencies and streamline electricity sector planning. The new IESO is a single organization driven by a common dedication to providing critical responsibilities to stakeholders including the Government of Ontario and customers. The IESO has a workforce of approximately 750 employees. Approximately 75% of staff are represented by the Society of Energy Professionals and 10% of staff by the Power Workers Union; the remaining 15% of staff are non-represented employees. Since the merger, workforce integration activities have introduced a significant element of change in the IESO’s work environment.
In addition, the IESO operates in a highly dynamic environment with a requirement to respond agilely and effectively to changes in electricity sector policy, technologies, processes, stakeholder expectations, and employee demographics.
The IESO is seeking a Service Provider to provide change management training and certification, as well as ad-hoc change management advice and consulting, to assist with its ongoing business needs.
