Description

CAPG is a community-based, resident-led, organization that has been involved in northwest Toronto communities for over seven years. Situated predominantly in the Jane Finch community, with residents from Wards 7 and 1, and supporters from other parts of Toronto, CAPG has organized residents and others to support improvements in local planning and development.

Members led a Northwest Transit Action group to fight for better transit services along Finch Avenue West and intersecting roads, leading to advocacy for the Finch West Light Rail Trains proposed originally by Transit City and then, years later, by Metrolinx (the transit agency of the Province).

A full community engagement process led to a funded feasibility study for a Community Hub and Centre for the Arts. The community envisions the Centre be built on land set aside for community purposes adjacent to the Finch West LRT Maintenance and Storage Facility. The study involved over 750 residents and supporters.

The development of the Governance Model for the Community Hub and Centre for the Arts will enable the client to:
