Description

The intent of this project is to carry out a detailed intrusive investigation of the green roof and metal roofing on the Ottawa Courthouse to determine how well the system is functioning. The Prime consultant to comment on the quality of an EFVM monitoring system.

Complete a detailed visual inspection of existing roof components (roof coverings, flashing, roof drain covers, pavers etc.)
Utilize a thermographic scan to identify areas of moisture infiltration on all roofing assemblies.

a. Investigation shall be completed after sunset with an infrared imagining system.
b. 4 test cuts to be performed, prime consultant to decide the location. This will determine the existing roof assembly, moisture penetration and will verify roof deck damages. All test openings to be closed and sealed after review.
Test results to be included in report review.
c. Testing will be in compliance with ISO 6781, ISO 18434-1, ISO 18436-7 and ASTM, C1153-1. Test results shall be considered in report recommendations.
-    For the green roof in particular, the study should comment on:
a. Soil conditions (storm water management, erosion, and soil stability)
b. Quality of EFVM monitoring system
i. Comment on its adequacy, connectivity, and any ways in which it could be used to better maintain the green roof
ii. Comment on its feasibility to tie existing monitoring system into the BAS
c. How to best maintain the vegetation or any recommended changes in vegetation.
- Hours of operation is regular business hours, after hours for disruptive work
-           Security guards to be accompanied all the time.
-           MGS Security Clearance is required for everyone attending the site.
