Central Counties Tourism is the provincially-funding not-for-profit dedicated to supporting and promoting the tourism assets of Durham Region, York Region and Headwaters Tourism Region. Sports Tourism and Meetings & Conventions have been identified as growth areas for the region.
Central Counties has developed a product designed to promote tourism businesses to the tens of thousands of visitors that descend on the region for sports tournaments and conferences. CCT requires a motivated individual or a company to build and execute a plan to explain the program to high quality tourism businesses in the Attractions, Restaurant and Retail sectors and get them to provide a discount for these visitors. There is NO CHARGE for a business to be part of the program so there is no risk in being part of it.
The product will be promoted to sport tournament organizers and convention/event planners as another reason to host their events within Central Counties. To this end, it is important to have high-end, recognizable partners as part of the program.
To successfully complete this project, the proponent must develop and execute a plan to enroll quality stakeholders to take part in the CCT Rewards Program. The enrolled stakeholders must include at minimum:
- 3 sit down chain restaurants in each of the following municipalities: Oshawa, Whitby, Ajax, Pickering, Markham, Richmond Hill, Vaughan, Aurora (24 Total)
- 2 sit down chain restaurants in each of the following municipalities: Clarington, Uxbridge, Newmarket, Caledon, Orangeville (10 Total)
- 1 sit down chain restaurant in each of the following municipalities: Scugog, Brock, Georgina, King, Whitchurch-Stouffville, East Gwillimbury (7 Total)
- 2 non-chain upscale restaurants per region (York and Durham). Must be in the towns listed in point 1 (4 Total)
- 1 non-chain upscale restaurant per region (York, Durham, Headwaters). Must be in the towns listed in points 2 and 3 (3 Total)
- 2 year-round family attractions (bowling, laser tag, rock climbing, etc.) per region (York, Durham, Headwaters) (Total 6)
- 2 year-round art/culture attractions (museums, art galleries, historic houses, etc.) per region (Total 6)
- 3 large attractions (Canada’s Wonderland, McMichael Gallery, Tree-Top Trekking, etc.) (Total 3)
