Infrastructure Ontario (IO) is a Crown agency of the Province of Ontario that supports the Ontario government’s initiatives to modernize and maximize the value of public infrastructure and real estate. IO upholds the government’s commitment to renew public services and does so in co-operation with the private sector.
The purpose of this RFP is to secure a temporary location for the Ontario Science Centre (OSC).
The OSC is one of Ontario’s most significant cultural attractions, which since its opening in 1969 has seen over 54 million visitors. The OSC has long term plans to relocate to Ontario Place but will require an interim location in Toronto until its permanent facility opens to the public.
The Ministry of Infrastructure is working with the OSC to expeditiously source an interim site of approximately 50,000 - 100,000 square feet of retail/commercial space in a dynamic area of Toronto or surrounding areas that is suitable for this use and easily transit accessible. The requirements outlined in this RFP will allow IO and OSC to determine the most suitable, temporary location for OSC. We are also allowing for a degree of flexibility in the specifications for the RFP if it enables the Science Centre to open more quickly.
