Description

The University of Toronto is seeking responses to this RFP from qualified Architects for professional services relating to Renovation of the Department of Comparative Medicine (DCM).

The existing DCM facility dates from 2005 and has not undergone any major renovation since construction.

The DCM is currently lacking procedural space for behavioural testing requirements, resulting in this plan to repurpose and renovate a number of rooms within the DCM and convert them to procedural rooms.

The scope of this project includes:

Architectural:

Demolition, new room configuration, relocation of existing equipment, location and coordination of new equipment, Building and Fire Code review, acoustics

Mechanical:

Review existing HVAC and provide assessment for the whole DCM
Recommend corrective actions to address HVAC code issues or user issues
Provide all required load and air flow calculations
Create as found drawings including pressurization, infiltration and ACH diagrams
Preparation of documents to initiate change control as required to satisfy PHAC and UofT lab requirements.
Provision of new BAS to serve DCM floor

Electrical:

Investigate existing electrical systems of the Area of Work and provide assessment
Investigate the impact of this project on the building distribution
Replacement of wall/floor electrical/data outlets
Relocate existing wall switches or provide new as required by layout
Provide occupancy sensors
Relocation of existing or installation of new light fixtures
Electrical feed for relocated and new equipment
