6bDescription:
The objective of this RFP is to contract with a supplier or more to provide furniture and installation services that will upgrade these reading rooms with purposeful design and functionality and support technology enhanced study spaces in higher education. 
These rooms are designated as high usage and the University requires that all hardware and furniture withstand the day to day use of the many students.  The surfaces should be easy to clean with ecological sustainable solutions.
 
Category 1 – Area Reading Tables
THREE (3) large reading tables in the Wallace room intend to provide TWENTY EIGHT (28) individual SEATS per TABLE for students with the look and feel of classic library reading tables, that make reference to the 1950s historic character of the room and heritage designation of the building, as well as the tradition of the University of Toronto, while at the same time delivering contemporary power and lighting requirements that allow for future power and data expansion. The wire circuits running through a central cable channel and cable tray and a sliding sheet steel cover for easy access for cable management, with a single core per table for hardwiring to the base building. Each table will be composed of seven continuous sections on a technical beam and legs placed so that students can sit in any area of the table, and end table tops at each end to allow student seating on table edges and corners.
 
Category 2 – STUDY CARRELS
Based on space maximization and fire code regulations, the Study carrel area is composed of FOURTY EIGHT (48) individual study carrels with the ability to provide integrated power, USB, and individual LED task lighting.
 
 
Category 3 – Tall Community Tables and Lounge Seating
 
The University is looking for two (2 tall community tables that will provide ten (10) individual Seats per table in a quiet but communal study area. The tables will provide a contemporary seating option while providing contemporary power requirements that require minimal intervention to the building fabric. The University is also looking for casual lounge seating, with contemporary design reminiscent of vintage character, durable finish, accompanied by contemporary power requirements on the lounge tables
