DESCRIPTION OF PROCUREMENT
The University is conducting an RFP for Doctor Blade Coating System
The University of Toronto is looking to purchase a modular automated Doctor Blade Coating System. The target tool should facilitate the high throughput preparation of reproducible films for use in metal-ion batteries, anion/cation/bipolar exchange membranes for applications in CO2 electrolyzers and fuel cells, as well as other organic electronic devices of interest. The instrument should be capable of a high degree of autonomy with minimal human intervention necessary beyond the initial input parameters of the films being prepared. The instrument will be housed in the Lash Miller building at the University of Toronto, St. George campus in downtown Toronto.
The automated Doctor Blade Coating System will be used to support advanced materials research programs and be used to study a wide variety of novel polymeric materials in addition to polymer composites. Due to the breadth of research projects that will make use of this automated system, a large number of researchers in the group with varying degrees of experience in robotics and coding are expected to interact with the robot. As such, a very high priority will be placed on the ease-of-use of the instrument by students with a limited need for excessive supervision or training.
The procurement is anticipated to involve negotiation. An electronic auction is not anticipated.
