18159 - 2018 Canadian Tourism Sector Compensation Study

The goal of this RFP is to hire a contractor with expertise in wage, salary, and human resource survey research and compensation data analysis to revise and update the Canadian Tourism Sector Compensation Study for the year 2018.
The update will include a quantitative approach to surveying businesses within the tourism sector, (as defined by the Canadian Tourism Satellite Account), to gather compensation data for approximately 30 tourism occupations. Enough data should be gathered to be broken out by region, industry group and other variables, if possible. 
The study consists of two linked surveys. The first survey gathers information on the participant’s business profile, pay administration practices that could include (but are not limited to): bonuses, incentives and benefit programs. It is intended that information on the impact of the minimum wage increase in Ontario and Alberta should be collected. 
The industry groups included in the scope of the study are: accommodation, food & beverage services, recreation & entertainment, and travel services. The population being surveyed includes tourism operations in all ten Canadian provinces, and the territories.  Since the last study was done six years ago, an environmental scan should be conducted at the outset of the project of other wage and salary surveys for the tourism sector and its component industries. This will identify complementary or competing studies and help refine the parameters of the businesses and industries included in the study.
