The Partnership maintains a database of cancer guidelines via its current portal, CancerView Canada. The database contains both Canadian and international English-language cancer guidelines spanning the continuum from screening to survivorship and end-of-life care. The database has proven to be a resource valued by the cancer community as shown by the evaluation of www.cancerview.ca and focus groups with our former Guideline Facilitator Network. The database content has not been up-dated on the website since 2012 while work to develop an organizational digital strategy (ODS), and refresh of the Partnership’s digital ecosystem was planned and initiated in 2015. To support the capture of new information, a vendor has been engaged over the past 3 years (April 2014 – March 2017) to continue to review and prepare content for uploading to the database.
The Partnership is now ready to refresh content. Our ODS is comprised of a multi-faceted digital transformation, which includes consolidation and redesign of several of its owned digital properties, addition of new technologies and development of supporting governance and internal processes. One of the most significant projects on our roadmap is migrating content and tools from CancerView and other sites to one new central destination. As it pertains to SAGE (soon to be rebranded as Cancer Guidelines Database), this means that it will have a new design and user experience based on insights from user research. This new presence will launch in the winter of 2017/18 and the Partnership will have a renewed focus on uptake of the database by organizations and clinicians across the country. At the time of launch, the Cancer Guidelines Database will be up-to-date with guidelines published up to and including December 2016.
