This Request for Proposals is an invitation to prospective Proponents to submit Proposals for the Supply, Installation and Implementation of a Multiplex PCR System. The Thunder Bay Regional Health Science Centre (TBRHSC) is a 386 bed hospital located at 980 Oliver Road in Thunder Bay, Ontario. The services offered include General Medicine, Cardiology, Coronary Angioplasty, General Surgery, Neurosurgery, Orthopaedic Surgery, Maternal/Child Services, Renal Dialysis, Cancer Centre and Mental Health Services. The Hospital is also affiliated with the Northern Ontario School of Medicine and designated as an Academic Teaching Facility. The TBRHSC Clinical Lab strives to support Programs & Services in caring for our unique Northwestern Ontario population (catchment area, approximately 250,000). The Clinical Laboratories Department services our facility supplying services to Emergency, Surgery, Trauma, Women & Children, Renal, Cancer Care, Intensive Care, Vascular Cardiology, Medicine and a future Cardiac Surgery Program.
TBRHSC seeks to satisfy the following objectives in an agreement resulting from this RFP:
Best solution to meet current and future PCR testing needs
Obtain a system that will provide us with accurate and timely results with minimal down time.
Obtain the highest quality delivery, installation, training and assistance with verification of performance.
Ensure compatibility, where applicable, with the existing LIS system (Meditech).
Obtain quality equipment and services at best overall value.
Obtain quality reagent with a good expiry.
To choose a solution that consistently performs well when compared to other laboratories through external proficiency testing.
To chose a solution that provides continual loading of a variety of tests.
Enhanced customer satisfaction, educational opportunities and on-going training when required and provision of an excellent service plan to ensure the instrument is running at peak performance 24/7.
Implement an automated solution to be used to provide timely and accurate results within minimal manual intervention by Medical Laboratory Technologists.
Support vendors that act in an environmentally responsible manner.
To reduce the overall cost of PCR testing.
