20-RFT-0138-00K - Modifications to Patio and Guard Rail, Yellow Wing Patio, Kingston Campus

In alignment with the College Strategic Plan, with a focus on the operational excellence multi-year objective, you will be contributing to objectives which will focus on:
•The enhancement of the student and college community customer experience;
•The modernization, improvement of esthetics and enhancement of the Hello Future Patio area
To allow for a better experience for visitors and users of the patio space, the partial removal of the solid exterior guard system will be needed, in order to replace with a structural glazing system.     
This work will be carried out on the exterior patio on the second floor of the Yellow Wing. Larger materials delivered to the patio must be done by using chutes and/or hoisting as applicable and where ever possible from the adjacent parking lot. The work area must be cordoned off to prevent access by pedestrians/vehicles. 
The work will include cutting of the steel columns on the existing guard and adding structural steel girts and adding outriggers to support new glazed guards. As seen on the Structural Plans, additional framing will be required below the patio floor (interior of building) as well as welding the steel supports in place and the applicable Hot Work Permits.
