Description

The Kingston Campus of St. Lawrence College has been undergoing major upgrades recently in the area of Student Services, Davies Hall, the main Entrance. The Campus Library is adjacent to this space and is also in need of updating. This project involves renovating the existing library space and creating a quiet training room and a partially open Math and Writing Center. The project will also involve painting, flooring and some minor lighting upgrades. Outside of this project, there will also be new furniture and IT upgrades to complete the enhancements and student experience, and will not form a part of this contract. Work is required to be done in stages as the Library will continue to be open during this renovation work.
It is important that St. Lawrence College provides an inviting high quality and user friendly library space for the students, while providing sufficient and comfortable space for both group study and quiet study to facilitate success in learning. St. Lawrence College puts students first and these enhancements are intended to meet student needs through improvements to accessibility within the library services, provide separate quiet training room and barrier free access initiatives.

As this project will be taking place during the school year, and St. Lawrence College requires the Library returned to the students as soon as possible; it is expected that longer hours may be needed to complete the work. Weekend work will also be permitted if/when necessary.

The intent of the project is to have a qualified General Contractor renovate the library space and adjacent office area as outlined in the attached specifications and drawings, including but not limited to:

Add quiet training room away from the main open floor area of the library
Improve the aesthetics within the library and upon approach from the corridor.
Minor modifications to the mechanical system in the area of the training room to accommodate floor plan changes
Painting and carpeting upgrades

As the building will be occupied during a portion of this work, the Successful Contractor will need to complete the work efficiently, safely and with minimal disruption for the users.
