The Legislated Employment Equity Program (LEEP), under the Employment Equity Act, compels federally regulated trucking and logistics employers with 100+ employees to report annually on the representation of designated equity groups in their workplaces, as well as on steps they are taking to achieve representation that is proportionate to the overall Canadian

workforce. These reporting requirements were introduced in an amendment to the Employment Equity Act which came into force in 2021, with the inaugural reporting cycle concluding on June 1, 2022. Employers are adapting to these new requirements, and some are encountering difficulty establishing effective data collection and reporting processes.
