For over 110 years, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Canada (BBBSC) has been championing the health and wellbeing of youth. Our vision is that all young people realize their full potential. Our mission is to enable life-changing mentoring relationships to ignite the power and potential of young people.
We step in before it’s too late, to help prevent the physical and mental effects of adverse childhood experiences. By matching young people with professionally screened volunteers, we support the building of developmental relationships between the mentor and mentee that express care, challenge growth, provide support, share power and expand possibilities.
By living our Theory of Change, our mentoring intervention helps ensure children as young as 7 are supported by caring adults as they overcome these adversities, helping them to do better in life. Young people graduate our programs with measurable outcomes in three key areas: social emotional competence, mental health and well-being, and educational engagement and employment readiness.
Big Brothers Big Sisters of Canada (BBBSC) is the National Office for its network of member agencies operating within a federated model. Together, the network delivers mentoring programs in hundreds of communities across Canada. We provide support, services, training and program development to our member agencies, which deliver quality mentoring programs to approximately 32,000 children annually, supported by 17,000 trained volunteers.
BBBSC’s external audit has been conducted by one of the leading professional services firms since 2017. In accordance with best practices and to bring fresh perspectives, while maintaining audit quality, we are seeking a new auditor. The appointment of the new audit firm for the financial year ending December 31, 2025 will be approved at the Annual General Meeting scheduled for June 19, 2025.
The external audit must be conducted in accordance with applicable accounting standards for non-profit organizations. The National Office, including our Finance team operates 100% remotely, and as such the appointed auditors must be able to perform the engagement remotely.
