RFP 03-23 - Development of Oral Health Business Case and Implementation Strategy

Mandated by the SLFNHA Chiefs in Assembly, SLFNHA developed the 2017 Oral Health Strategy which was approved by Resolution 18-06 directing SLFNHA to begin negotiations to transition resources and responsibilities for oral health prevention and treatment to SLFNHA. 
During the COVID-19 pandemic, the gap in dental services has been exacerbated.  SLFNHA continues to work with Indigenous Services Canada (ISC) to increase community dental services while working towards the transformation of the dental program.  This has included working with First Nation communities and Tribal Councils to support the assessment and renovation of community dental clinics. After the permanent closure of the Sioux Lookout Zone Dental Clinic, SLFNHA is in the process of renovating an interim dental clinic space.  Long-term capital planning continues for this program.
The transition of dental services from ISC to SLFNHA will require a transformational approach which will involve ensuring that long standing issues are addressed prior to SLFNHA taking on the services as well as engaging in the due diligence on the existing assets in community.
