Description of Deliverables
SFU is seeking purchase an aluminium Research Vessel without a radar and radar mast for the River Dynamics Laboratory for work on the Fraser River, British Columbia that is capable of deploying a davit and instruments. SFU’s budget for the Research Vessel is $235,000 CAD plus taxes.

The Proponent is to provide the Research Vessel in ready to operate condition. The Proponent must provide an on the water demonstration of the Research Vessel prior to pickup by SFU from the Proponents facility.

Mandatory requirements
 

1. Compliant with Transport Canada TP1332 Standards.
2. Builder must have a proven a track record of building boats for commercial (1000hours/year) use in British Columbia ( Question )
3. Boat builder must be in British Columbia, preferably in Lower mainland, Vancouver Island or Sunshine Coast.

4. Aluminum hull designed for strong currents (Fraser River and other large rivers or for ocean currents)
5. Approx.25 ft with <10 ft beam (so it can be towed with a F250 pickup; does not require SVOP for operation)

6. Hardtop sealed cabin
7. Table for computers and electronics and space for a computer rack
8. Bench seat(s)
9. Two suspension helm seats
10. Cabin heater that can defrost forward window.
11. Electric wipers for forward window

12. Open deck space (minimum length 6 x 5 ft wide) with room to mount a Davit (see picture 2- Appendix F)
13. Substantial aluminum gunnel for instrument mount and davit attachment (see picture 2 - Appendix F)
14. Self-bailing aluminum deck. No steps in deck. Water from cabin or deck must not drain into hull.
15. Deck welds to be ground flush and non-skid coating installed throughout.
16. Side railings are required aft of cabin to meet the TP 1332, they MUST be removable.

17. Minimum 2000 Watt AC power inverter (with AC outlets in cabin for instruments)
    1. Minimum power for MBES is 110 AC/50 Hz/700W
    2. Minimum power for computers are for two laptops 110 AC/50 Hz/100W
    3. Minimum power for 4 LCD monitors 110 AC/50 Hz/400W
18. Dash mounted magnetic compass, with light (on-board & installed)
19. Electric horn that meets the requirements of the Collision Regulations. The horn must be operated by a spring-loaded switch located on the dash. (on-board & installed)
20. VHF radio & antenna (on-board & installed).
21. Dual batteries with separate battery switches and VSR relay to allow safe use of electronic equipment with ship battery power.
22. Night driving lights.

23. Supply and install twin outboard 150 Hp Yamaha engines
24. Kicker mount installed next to engines
25. Single station hydraulic steering system capable of handling the horsepower of the vessel.

26. Robust dual-axle trailer with a capacity 25% greater than the anticipated “normal load” weight.

27. Required safety equipment – to meet transport Canada guidelines.

30. Multibeam echosounder mount.  To be supplied by SFU (See picture 1 - Appendix F ; all parts supplied by SFU except side arm).  There must be a detachable side arm to hold multibeam echosounder (see picture 1- Appendix F).  The MBES weighs approximately 300 lbs, including the aluminum mounts.
31. Davit mount.  Davit is to be supplied by SFU (See picture 2 - Appendix F). Receiving tube mount supplied by vendor and welded to the gunnel and deck.  The davit weighs approximately 150 lbs.  The davit lifts 250 lbs of equipment in water with a strong current. The davit requires a 12 volt battery power on the rear deck. The davit arm is ~4 ft above the deck.  It extends ~2 ft over the gunnel.  It lifts weight to ~1 ft above the gunnel. 

1. Height of 6’2” in cabin (Preferred)
2. Minimum Four cabin lights (Preferred)
3. Non-dropped floor so deck is at same height as the cabin  (Preferred)
4. Onboard storage (dry storage in cabin and storage locker below rear deck).

5. Mounts of two Trimble GNSS heads
6. Echo-sounder (Hummingbird Helix 10 SI)
7. 3000 Watt generator that exhausts into the water (as an option pricing item)

8. Five year (1,000hrs/year) hull warranty that cover framing plating and welding that begins only after successful installation and commissioning (or certification) of the entire system by the end user.
