INTRODUCTION:
Calgary Recreation is looking for an organization to be the Naming Rights Sponsor for the Calgary Soccer Centre. Financial benefits received by Calgary Recreation through the naming rights and sponsorship program is a revenue generating strategy to offset The City costs and enhance programing for recreation services.
The purpose of this Expression of Interest (EOI) is for The City of Calgary (The City) to publicly promote the naming rights opportunity and determine interest of organizations who are interested in purchasing naming rights for the Calgary Recreation Calgary Soccer Centre (CSC).
PROJECT BACKGROUND:
The Calgary Soccer Centre is located at 7000 – 48 Street S.E. in the City of Calgary. The Soccer Centre hosts over 1.3 million visitors a year and accommodates a multi-sport environment hosting indoor and outdoor sports such as soccer, lacrosse, ultimate frisbee, lawn blowing, bocce ball, rugby, and flag football. It provides children, youth and adults a year-round recreational space and is the largest indoor soccer facility (nearly 240,000 square feet) in Southern Alberta. Clubs and leagues recognize the Centre as a valuable tournament facility, over 30 events are held annually and customer satisfaction ratings are high.
Since 2013, The City has made significant improvements and upgrades, and include a new Annex and artificial turf fields. The Centre now hosts 8 indoor playing fields, 3 outdoor artificial turfs fields and 1 natural turf field. A capital investment project in summer 2018, will replace all field boards in the main building, and improve the roof’s insulation valves.
Recreational spaces have a tremendous impact of the quality of life for citizens and visitors. Sport and physical activity plays a key role in improving overall health, reducing obesity rates, creating inclusiveness and supporting positive social development. The Soccer Centre is part of The City’s recreation continuum of amenities. The City’s recreation business unit operates 12 arenas, two arts centres, 12 athletic parks, eight golf courses, two leisure centres, 12 indoor pools, and a sailing school.
