BC Timber Sales (BCTS) Strait of Georgia invites proposals from firms specializing in wildlife and Species of Management Concern (SOMC) professional biology services for the forest sector. This contract offers an opportunity to contribute to the sustainable management of wildlife and ecosystems, ensuring compliance with corporate goals and third-party certification standards such as the Sustainable Forest Initiative (SFI).

Objective: The successful proponent will provide professional biological consulting services related to:

• Monitoring known and potential American goshawk (Astur atricapillus) nesting territories within BCTS Strait of Georgia operating areas.
• Surveying and providing management recommendations for known and/or suspected Species of Management Concern (SOMC), At-Risk Ecological Communities (AREC) or other wildlife occurrences on an as-needed basis.
• Offering other professional biological consultation services as requested.

• Provide consultative guidance on wildlife issues to BCTS staff and contractors.
• Conduct field identification of Species of Management Concern and their habitats.
• Develop and deliver training on Species of Management Concern or At-Risk Ecological Communities.
• Prepare recommendations and reports for wildlife species for both operational and planning purposes.
• Monitor activities related to operational wildlife recommendations.
• Design and implement wildlife monitoring strategies and analyze data to provide actionable insights.
• Liaise with regulatory agencies regarding wildlife policy, laws, and regulations.
• Conduct American Goshawk (AGOS) monitoring surveys and provide Breeding Area Designs guidance, ensuring compliance with the latest standards and best practices.
• Prepare Spring Forage Assessments reports for Roosevelt Elk and Columbia black-tailed deer in development areas within proximity to established Ungulate Winter Range.
