This Request for Expressions of Interest identifies a business opportunity:

To pre-qualify operators for routes 8 (Horseshoe Bay to Bowen Island), 18 (Powell River to Texada Island), 19 (Nanaimo Harbour to Gabriola Island), 20 (Chemainus-Thetis
Penelakut), 21 (Denman Island West to Buckley Bay), and 25 (Port McNeill to Malcolm Island (Sointula) only, as BC Ferries has identified routes 8, 18, 19, 20, 21 and 25 as requiring additional
operators
