Description

The purpose of this is to provide a twenty-six foot (26 foot) gill netting vessel, with an eight to 9 foot (8-9 foot) beam.
The vessel must be equipped with twin four stroke 150 horse power outboard motors a galvanized trailer package with appropriate Gross Vehicle Registered Weight (GVRW) as an entire boat/trailer package for the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry’s use in various field locations, primarily on Lake Ontario.
Scope of Work
The Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry’s, Lake Ontario Management Unit is responsible for monitoring, assessment and research of Lake Ontario’s aquatic resources to ensure long-term sustainability of lake Ontario’s ecosystem. Gill netting is an efficient and established method of collecting fish population data. Gill netting on Lake Ontario and its embayment’s like the Bay of Quinte is unique in that it requires a vessel that meets strict safety criteria in hull design in order to handle the marine conditions Lake Ontario can produce. This vessel will be used to sample fish in both the nearshore embayment environments of Lake Ontario and also in the far offshore areas of Lake Ontario which will require a versatile boat with a shallow draft that can also handle rough and wavy conditions. Looking to have this delivered no later than August of 2025.
