25TDRRSD820 - Laboratory Analysis of Water Quality Parameters for Resource Management Regional Projects

Alberta’s Environmental Protection and Enhancement Act (2016) mandates an environmental science program to monitor, evaluate, and report on the condition of the environment to Albertans. The Science Strategy (2019) of the Office of the Chief Scientist requires Alberta Environment and Protected Areas (EPA) to provide credible and objective environmental monitoring, applied science, evaluation, and reporting in support of the Government’s efforts and priorities in achieving desired environmental outcomes and sustainable development of natural resources. Accordingly, EPA is currently operating lotic (rivers and streams) water quality monitoring programs that inform decision making across the Province. Activities for these monitoring programs involve the collection of water and biological samples, which are then analyzed for selected parameters at suitable analytical laboratories. This RFP supports the delivery of Provincial lotic monitoring programs via the establishment of contracts with laboratories to provide the analytical services outlined in Appendix B.
