MDS2022-008 - Accessible Pathway and Amenities Construction Welkum Park

The Municipality of the District of Shelburne (the “Municipality”) is seeking proposals from qualified contractors for the construction of an accessible pathway and amenities at Welkum Park, located at 8946 Upper Clyde Road, Shelburne, Nova Scotia.

Scope of Work
1. Supply materials (gravel, boulders, etc.) and construct the accessible pathway and service vehicle turnaround area as per pathway design plan and specifications (Appendices A, B, C).
2. Supply materials and construct viewing platform as per specifications (Appendices E, F, G, H).
3. Prep site and supply and install boulders for three plant beds (no plants) as per specifications (Appendix D).
4. Install drainage swale along south property line as per pathway design plan (Appendix A).
5. Realign boulders on beach edge to accommodate pathway.
6. Relocate two picnic tables that are currently positioned near beach edge.
7. Relocate any benches that will interfere with the pathway.
8. Supply and add topsoil (approx. 56 m³) and seed (approx. 560m²) to lawn area at base of hill as per design plan.
9. Work with the project manager to ensure successful completion of the project; ensure all specifications are understood and followed, check-ins at key points of construction and regular communication to provide progress updates.
10.Work on site to begin after September 5, 2022.
11.Desired completion date of November 31, 2022.

Optional Site Visit:
An optional site visit will be held August 4, 2022. Staff will be on site from 10:00am to 12:00pm for potential proponents who are interested in attending. Proponents will not be precluded from submitting a proposal if they do not attend. Although a site visit is not mandatory, proponents are responsible for being familiar with the site.
