NRFP 21-004 - Virtual Desktop Infrastructure

Cybera's ShareIT program, on behalf of Alberta's Post-Secondary Institutions (PSI) is inviting experienced and qualified suppliers to provide a Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) solution(s) to be used across Alberta's participating PSI's.

This NRFP seeks to accommodate a variety of institutions, ranging from large, complex environments through to and including smaller institutions to mitigate a growing problem impacting the end-user’s ability to connect to on-premises equipment/applications and cloud services, which has been exacerbated by the pandemic as the requirement to learn/work from home becomes a critical need for all.

Members wish to explore solutions which enable the delivery of operating systems and applications in a centralized manner, without deploying dedicated workstations for each end user. Members wish to receive options that allow students and faculty members to connect to the Post Secondary Institutions’ networks and equipment using an internet connection regardless of time, geographic location or device.

In addition to software and licensing, members may require the option of purchasing VDI Hardware in a bundled approach to reduce costs, ensure ease of integration and to reduce the risk of time-consuming and costly implementation issues.

Due to the diversity of the Participating Members in the Alberta higher education sector, this NRFP seeks to obtain proposals for three areas:
On Prem Solution;
Cloud Solution; and
Hybrid Solution
