Description

The Ministry of Transportation Ontario (MTO) is seeking Bids to design, configure, customize, implement, and provide Solution Subscription Support services as a Software as a Service (SaaS) for an Ontario 511 Traveller Information Service (Ontario 511) solution.

Ontario 511 is a public-facing service that publishes data from various Ontario Ministry of Transportation systems and third-party providers.

Ontario 511 serves as the official MTO source for information about highway traffic and weather conditions to help drivers make smarter, safer driving choices. It provides province-wide, near real-time accessible traveller information via a website, a mobile application ("mobile app"), an interactive voice response ("IVR") phone service, and social media, in both English and French.

An effective traveller information service like Ontario 511 can enhance traveller mobility, reduce travel delays, and improve road safety. By offering travellers official MTO data in a timely and accurate way, Ontario 511 assists drivers in planning new trips, adjusting to service changes, and navigating obstacles such as collisions, congestion, changing road conditions, or work zones while en route.
Scope of Work
The Ministry is seeking a Vendor to design, configure and/or customize, implement and provide Solution Subscription Support services as a SaaS for an Ontario 511 solution.

The Vendor is expected to provide a Solution through four (4) channels which include:
1. a website,
2. a mobile application,
3. an IVR system, and
4. social media via “X” accounts (formerly Twitter).

The Vendor’s Solution shall offer various personalized features across all channels, allowing users to get real-time information about ongoing incidents, roadwork, and road conditions to help with travel planning. While the IVR is expected to provide verbal customized information based on the user’s selection (highway, direction, etc.) the website and mobile app must offer personalized features which helps individuals who choose to register, plan their travel more efficiently, they include:
• My Cameras
• My Routes.
• Route Notifications
• Area Notifications
• Ferry Notifications

The Vendor’s Solution is essential to enhance the MTOs digital presence and improve customer engagement by providing accurate, real-time information about highway traffic and weather conditions.
