Description

The AER continues its risk-based evaluation of Mine Life Closure Plans and Tailings Management Plans for oil sands operators. These plans - as well as policy direction on tailings management related to treat and release of oil sands mine water, end pit lakes, and water capped treatment technology - will inform how oil sands mining closure landscapes will meet reclamation timelines and performance criteria.

The AER is seeking to perform risk-based evaluation of possible scenarios on how closure mining landscapes may unfold under different circumstances. The AER is seeking a vendor to develop and deliver a simulation modelling approach, conduct modelling, and report on oil sands mine closure scenarios.
