Established in 2008 - and jointly funded under the First Nations and Inuit Policing Program (FNIPP) - the Lakeshore Regional Police Service (LRPS) provides culturally-appropriate/culturally-sensitive policing and community (public) safety services to the following First Nations in North Central Alberta:
> Kapawe'no First Nation
> Sucker Creek First Nation
> Driftpile Cree Nation
> Sawridge First Nation
> Swan River First Nation
LRPS is governed by an independent, community-representative Police Commission, and continues to be widely recognized for its high levels of training and professionalism, depth of operational experience, and overall service-based performance metrics.
LRPS currently consists of a Chief of Police, two Inspectors, two Sergeants, ten Constable Investigators, a Human Resource Coordinator, three Administrative Support staff, a Crime Prevention Coordinator (through funding provided by the Alberta Solicitor General's Office), and two Victim Services workers.
LRPS currently operates out of the 7,810.5 sq. ft. Lakeshore Regional Police Service (LRPS) headquarters building, located immediately adjacent to Highway 2 on the Driftpile Cree Nation.
A planned and upcoming expansion in LRPS front line staffing (30%+ over the next number of years) will require an expansion of the current LRPS headquarters building, which was initially commissioned in 2015.
LRPS and the Lesser Slave Lake Indian Regional Council (LSLIRC) are therefore seeking Expressions of Interest from qualified engineering and/or architectural firms...specifically, to advise and guide in the initial scoping work related to what can be done with/within the current building envelope and what a feasible and prudent facility (building) expansion might look like.
Current Building Specs:
> 7,810.5 sq. ft.
> single story, steel and masonry frame
> concrete structural floor slab
> concrete pile foundations
> concrete grade beams
> brick, concrete block, with stucco exterior
> steel trusses, with steel roof deck
> SBS roofing
> fully integrated interior sprinkler system
In this Request for Expressions of Interest, LRPS and LSLIRC are looking for each interested vendor to submit a detailed Statement of Qualifications, with a focus on relevant and/or similar type of work or projects recently undertaken...projects which demonstrate the Core Technical Engineering and Architectural Competencies (expertise/experience) we are seeking.
From there, we intend to short list the various submissions received and then provide more detailed engineering and architectural technical information, blueprints, other building specifications, etc. -- as well as providing opportunities for pre-arranged site and/or virtual site visits to those expressing an interest. This, prior to a round of short list interviews being scheduled, following which a final decision on the selected consultant will be made.
