b) Project Objectives- Stream temperature is the primary driver of habitat suitability for native trout along the Eastern Slopes. The collection and modelling of stream temperature data in the Eastern Slopes in important to achieve the goal of species recovery. The objective is to have a significant data collection effort in the fall of 2022 so that the Native Trout Recovery Program can use the data to update models and to make management decisions that support the recovery of threatened trout populations. The objective of this project will be met through the retrieval of currently deployed dataloggers. These data are important to understand not only the spatial temperature throughout a watershed but to understand seasonal and annual variation as well as will fill in modelling gaps and so that the Species at Risk program can make informed recovery action decisions.
